Katie had the great idea of having an extended family session with her family in Perth, Ontario in the late Fall when she was visiting from Alberta. It was a perfect crisp day and we had a lot of fun with the “big kids” of the family. Great Grandma was there as well, which was a special treat, so we took portraits of the whole family in front of the Christmas tree and they even had an “ugly” Christmas sweater for everyone to wear – though i must admit some of them were pretty cool and I would totally wear them on a regular Winter day! But I’m cool like that 😉
I love these images and I know they will be cherished for many years. It’s not everyday that a large family can get together, that’s why I love photographing extended families so much as there is always a lot of love to photograph, big laughs and funny jokes. It’s so nice to see people care so much for each other and their well beings, and to be there to capture it all.

It’s fun to plan them for cottages, beaches, etc. And having heirloom products like canvases and albums to pass on to the next generation is always appreciated by the younger generation – I know I sure love looking at albums filled with images from my grandparents time with their little kids all together (it’s fun to see my mom as a younger kid. Those are memories that they cherish and that I cherish as well).
