12 Day Old Ashley was just divine during her newborn session! She slept so well and I don’t remember hearing one peep from her! Big sister Amanda who I photographed as a newborn a couple of years ago was on hand to watch the magic happen and joined in for some portraits as well.
I loved creating this neutral look for Ashley’s photography session because it just so perfectly matches her family’s farm house. I can just envision a newborn portrait of Ashley right next to a portrait of one of their horses! Such a pretty colour palette! Neutral creams, whites, browns and grey’s were used with lots of texture in the blankets and wraps and headbands. I just love how it all came together and Mama did too!
Take a look at some of my favourites from our time together!
Doesn’t she look so relaxed in the portrait above? Plus I’m just in love with the cream lace and burlap headband I paired with the creamy tan mohair wrap. It’s so so soft! The texture of the blanket is really soft and fuzzy too – very nap worthy!
Snug as a bug
I just love the texture and pattern on this neutral white blanket. So pretty!
The many faces of Ashley! You can see the many faces of her big sister Amanda here – you’ll notice they are almost identical!
Again using one of my favourite wraps – I just love the lace and the little poms… details that add to the overall art of a portrait.
My daughter and I had a little fun creating this headband one day and I thought that it might fit with this session – and I think it does perfectly! Lots of animals on the farm and the feathers are a good fit!
Add in a happy big sister and call it a day!
If you would love to have an organic, neutral newborn photography session that we would love to plan one for you! It’s so much fun to think about all of the textures you can use in a session. When choosing a neutral colour palette, textures are even more important because it can break up the monochromatic feel but still lend itself to an exquisite piece of art. I can easily picture one of the basket portraits printed big on a museum quality canvas that’s ready to hang in any room in their house. Artwork isn’t just for paintings, it’s portraits like these with your favourite people in them that will be the most treasured artwork you own. I’d love to speak with you about creating artwork like this in your home.
