Chloe was a joy to photograph for her First Birthday Cake Smash Photo shoot at our Kingston, Ontario Photography Studio. As the expression goes she really “ham’d it up”!! I just loved all of her expressions and the fun she had in our studio. I believe that it’s such an important milestone to celebrate that every little boy and girl should have their portraits taken at this time. The first year of a baby’s life is so full of change and wonder at the world and a development of their sweet personalities that capturing it in camera allows us Mom’s and Dad’s to look back and remember the expressions with greater ease.
Chloe was no exception. She was full of smiles, and big eyes and even a little sass at the end of her portraits when she was busy splish-splashing and purposely faced the wall so we couldn’t see her. But we could see her cheeks raised from her big smiles. She was a character for sure!
I super duper, like really super duper loved creating this first set. It’s simple yet packs a punch with the mint and pink combination. I absolutely loved that Chloe’s mom wanted to use that hint of mint blue because most times clients stick with the traditional pinks and purples. But I love when clients think outside of the box because she looks gorgeous in this blue dress and it’s lovely to incorporate that colour into the backdrop as well. And the stars say that she is young and fun to me. They are carefree and add a little bit of whimsy to her childhood portraits. I mean looking at this set again makes me want to create it for every client I love it so!

P.S. look at that big girl standing up!!! It’s not often that I have a First Birthday Client be able to stand and she was a pro at it!
Every girl should feel like a Princess on their birthday! Chloe looked gorgeous in this pink and gold tulle and sequin dress from our prop closet. It’s just the perfect Princess dress! And I love pairing it with the sequin headband when if the baby leaves it on. It’s just too pretty not to hold in your hands, I know the feeling Chloe 😉
I just love this little Boho Inspired Romper that worked perfectly with these beautiful Pin Wheels. The great thing about this romper is that it fits from 6 months to 12 months of age so it’s a really versatile prop in our studio. And we paired it up with one of my brand new headbands from this wonderful Etsy store I am just in love with. Super adorable if you ask me!
Chloe was so dainty as she tried her delicious cake. I just loved the rosette swirls that Cakes by Josee created and those little gold edibles along the bottom were delicious too! Chloe definitely liked the taste of it but didn’t feel the need to get too messy. You just never know how a Cake Smash will go. She is only ONE afterall 🙂
I was so excited to get this new tub that I just knew would be perfect for the Cake Smash After Bath part of a First Birthday Session that I will be offering. Chloe had a lot of fun splashing in the water but the funniest part of it was that she became very very interested in eating her cake while in the bathtub (more so then before at the Cake Smash time). Can you blame the girl? Who wouldn’t want to eat cake in a bathtub while splashing around without a care in the world??!!! Lucky girl!
Well there you have it folks! Chloe in all her First Birthday glory!!! Happy Birthday baby girl! Thank you for coming to see me at the studio – it was my honour to capture this moment in your life on camera and I had a lot of fun creating sets that complimented your Mama’s chosen colour palette as well as creating sets that allowed you to interact in a fun way. Thank you for testing out the new tub!! It certainly seems like it was a good purchase for the studio and I hope that I will see you again at our Kingston Studio or around town. You are a joy and I wish you all the very best for all the years to come.
