This beautiful baby girl came to see me twice in the studio. The first time she had a bit of a tummy ache or just wasn’t feeling herself and so Loren and her parents came back another day to finish the session. We were able to create some really beautiful portraits that I know this family will cherish for years to come.
Enjoy a look at our time together!
Mom and Dad saw a similar picture to this set up and so I created something that was unique to them with the colours that worked with their colour palette. I’m so happy that Loren came back in to try this set up again! She did so well the second time around when her belly wasn’t giving her gas pains. And she looks so so gorgeous in this pretty purple wrap.
We were able to create some timeless family portraits that I’m sure their family just loves. What a beautiful first family portrait!
I love this soft colour palette we used for our blanket poses. This first pose is called the Bum Up Pose in the Newborn Photography industry.
Someone loves being held by Daddy. Doesn’t Dad look so proud. What a happy moment to capture!
Mom loved the idea of doing this pose because Loren was so sleepy. It worked out well and she chose this looking at the camera pose. I love it!
This pose is called the Side Lay Pose in the Newborn Portrait world. There are many variations of it depending on how baby settles into the pose, sometimes the hands are together, sometimes I put the hand closes to the camera on the blanket instead of together with the back hand. Every baby is different and so no two attempts at this pose are every identical. It’s always baby led to wear they are comfortable at all times. Newborn Safety is the top priority of any Professional Newborn Photographer. If a baby is uncomfortable they will let you know, and some poses we skip if say baby just doesn’t like laying on their stomach for example.
I hope you enjoyed a look at some of Loren’s parents favourite portraits from our time together in the portrait studio. Newborn Photography is all about listening to those cues, and you never know when a baby might not be feeling their best until they arrive. Loren needed two separate sessions so she could work through that gas pain. It doesn’t happen often but because I have been trained and have lots of experience with newborns, I can see the signs of restlessness and can switch positions to help, especially with reflux, or call it a day and plan with the parents to come back in another day. Babies are real people and should be treated with the utmost care, they are not there to get the perfect technical shot for the newborn industry standard. Each portrait we recreate is perfect because it is perfect to their parents. I love these portraits and Loren’s parents do too! I’m very very happy with what we were able to create despite the tummy issues.
