I love when clients are excited about their portraits and can’t wait to have their favourite portraits printed and hung on the walls! Life can be busy for my clients with new babies and juggling households and workloads, so if I can help them create some heirloom pieces of their favourite portraits so that they don’t need to worry about it at all then I’m so happy to be able to help! As part of my business, every newborn and family session client gets an in person reveal session in their home where they see their final portraits for the first time and we discuss in more depth the products that they love and want to display in their home or give as gifts to family members. Just as you would invest in an art piece in your home from a famous painter or a reproduction print of a spring meadow, your family’s most treasured artwork, portraits of your favourite people, should be looked on as another piece of artwork for your home – the kind that makes your heart happy every time you see it and can be passed down for generations as a treasure to have. How does it make you feel to see pictures of your grandparents on their wedding day? Or of your parents when they were little? Pretty special right? It gets us right in the heart every time and you are so thankful that you have this important piece of your family’s rich history when so many other trinkets have been lost or forgotten. Printed portraits stand the test of time as being the most important piece of your legacy. Your child’s portraits should be seen in the same way. It’s hard to imagine your prints generations from now but that’s why I’m here to remind you that that is exactly what you are contributing to. Your family’s legacy. Your family’s visual history. That’s why I stress that yes it is important to invest in your digital portraits, there’s no question about it, but it’s also important to print your favourites because that is what is going to be passed down, not your cd {just as VHS tape, floppy disc, etc are a way of the past now}. The archival prints that we offer our clients are some of the best available, with heirloom quality inks and papers used they are meant to last generations without fading and degradation. They will look the same now as they will when your grandchildren have children. That’s a pretty powerful statement to give to your family. They were worth the investment into the pieces that will be passed down. All of our larger than an 8×10 are mounted to ensure this durability and help stand the test of time. It also helps when you want to take this treasured piece out of a frame and store it you will be assured it won’t be bent on accident and can be stored in the appropriate location to withstand the years until someone takes that treasure out to put on their wall again akin to the canvases and framed prints you found in your grandmother’s attic.
I think in this digital world we’re forgetting some of the true treasures that we own. If your house was on fire would it be the flat screen TV you would save or would it be that photo album from when you were little or that favourite framed family print of your last photo shoot with your photographer. When you take stalk of your life, you know what is important and what is not. What speaks about your legacy as a family and what does not. We can not encourage our clients enough to print out their favourites from their session with us. Portraits are a lasting legacy of your time with your family.
We know that children absolutely love seeing their portraits on the walls. We want your children to have happy grins and stars in their eyes when they see their portraits of when they were little. That starts at the very beginning from their newborn portrait session.
We were happy to create these two collages from recent newborn photography sessions at our studio as reminders of how little these two boys were. These collages are going in their nurseries and have just been sent off to the printers. We custom design collages based on what size clients want {this is a popular design choice} the mounted print and also how many favourites they have. This is a popular combination because it shows off so many of their favourites and has their birth information {which moms and dads will tell you after a couple of years you tend to forget and have to look it up to make sure} so they never have to forget it. And now these collages will be passed down to their children so that they can enjoy them and then pass them down to their kids one day, maybe even creating a trend of a duplicate collage for their own children. Wouldn’t that be neat?! The skies the limit on what we can create for you to remember these monumental moments in your child’s life.
