I loved that this family came all the way from Kanata to see me. What a testament to a family that will find a photographer based on their style then location. I’m always hubbled and apprecaitive to those that come from a distance as I know they truly want to work with me. They love me, they really love me, you might say 🙂 This family was just a wonderful breath of fresh air. Mom and Dad were great interacting with their daughter and we had the privledge of shooting both indoor and outdoors as the weather was fantastic – only -5! Of course here in Ontario, Canada that’s a great day! Not like the -25 weather we had shortly after their session! BRRR!!!! I loved interacting with little Megan, she was a doll with big, big eyes. And she certainly has her parent’s heart. They had a great time as a family playing in the snow together on my property. We didn’t end up using that much of the 8 acres and stayed close to my home studio instead but it didn’t matter, when you live in the bush everything looks beautiful in the snowfall. And the snow was lightly falling which made the backdrops for their portraits even better. I was happy that I got the two lovebirds together as I’m sure they haven’t had updated pictures since their wedding, which is usually the case.
Question: Do you have updated portraits of you and your partner? Have you updated them since your wedding? If not, why not? I think sometimes as parents we get swept up in our kids and we forget that we are people too and that your love with your partner is something to celebrate. My husband and I have definitely realized this over the last two years. We are important too and so I want each family I photograph to be prepared for me to ask them to take a portrait of the two parents together because you are important too and your relationship also deserves special attention on portrait day. There are many studies out there that say how important it is for kids to see their parents as happy and healthy and what better way to remind them during the daily grind that you are important by having your portrait framed on the wall. Connections are important. Remember your connection in this moment is important and is a cause for celebration as well. But I digress…
Enjoy looking at this wonderful families portraits from our time together this Winter. It was truly an honour for them to come to me out of all the photographers out there. I know after they received their images they were truly happy with the results of our collective hardwork. Well really, easy work to be honest – it’s not hard to interact with a sweet girl like Megan when you love her. And these parents truly love their little girl….it was really nice to see.
